Green Communities

We have achieved several certified and gold LEED for Planning and Design awards — a first for the group — for technologically planned projects that meet strict standards on energy efficiency, water conservation, and enhanced community quality of life, embodying our principles of sustainable design. This project reflects our commitment to promoting sustainable and healthy lifestyles in Dubai, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% per capita compared to the national average. It features 1,200 villas and green spaces 2.5 times larger than the global average, prioritizing energy efficiency and water conservation, with water use 33% lower than the UAE average.

Sustainable Built Environment

The parent company, TECOM Group, reinforced its commitment to sustainability through initiatives in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable design across its communities. The comprehensive retrofit project launched in 2022 won the “Best Exemplary Retrofit Project” award from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy in 2024. The group also received 12 new LEED certifications, raising its total to 43, with 49% of its total commercial leasable area now LEED certified. Solar energy generation increased by 15.5% to 14.2 GWh, covering 7.7% of total electricity consumption.

Enriching Our Communities

We manage a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and retail destinations across Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Renewable energy projects — including solar-panel-equipped parking lots at Ibn Battuta Mall, Dragon Mart, and Discovery Gardens — have achieved annual energy savings of 13.27 MWp, reducing CO₂ emissions by 8,000 tons and saving AED 4.8 million annually. Smart waste management initiatives further enhance sustainability, while solar opportunities are being evaluated across 25 additional properties. Several Dubai companies achieved or renewed ISO 14001:2015 environmental management certification in 2024.

Efficient Waste Management

We take pride in our investment in the Warsan Waste Treatment Center, developed in partnership with Dubai Municipality. This facility is one of the key projects supporting the goal of zero landfill waste by 2030, forming a central part of the city’s waste management strategy. With a capacity of 1.9 million tonnes of municipal solid waste per year, it converts waste into energy, diverting up to 45% of Dubai and Abu Dhabi waste away from landfills. Since operations began in August 2024, 31% of the group’s waste has been diverted to the facility, with plans to increase this share in 2025.

Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort (Abu Dhabi)

Opened in 2018, Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi is the region’s first eco-friendly luxury hotel. Set amidst natural mangrove forests, protected sand dunes, and rich marine life, the resort released 57 endangered sea turtles back into their natural habitat in 2024 and minimizes light impact during nesting season using red-filtered lighting. The resort has eliminated plastic straws and single-use containers, adopted biodegradable materials, and provides guests with reusable water bottles. Sustainability efforts include a hydroponic farm for seasonal vegetables, food waste conversion into irrigation water, and energy-saving technologies. The resort is ISO 21401 certified for its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable hospitality practices.
